Hey guys!

Welcome to my blog, The Storyteller. I hope you have enjoyed what you have read so far, so now is the part when I tell you a little bit more about me.

My name is Janet, I am a 20 year old English Literature student from Devon, England. I started my blog back in the good old days of 2010 (I think?), but I only really got into blogging in 2011. This space has changed a lot in that time- it’s gone through a few name changes, but I decided to go with The Storyteller because I’ve been told by too many people that when I talk about something, I can captivate the audience… so basically, I talk a lot. I don’t like missing out the details so I think that makes me a pretty good storyteller… right?

In September 2015 I started studying English with American Literature at the University of Winchester, and so far it has been great. I can’t wait to see what sort of opportunities will arise and where my course will take me in the future. (Hopefully somewhere amazing!)

So what sort of thing are you supposed to look out for here? I mostly write  “university advice” posts, because I will be writing about my experiences as I go through university, and basically everything that I learn I will be writing about them here. My motto for my time at university is “make it up as you go along”, so you’ll definitely see how that goes in my posts, if you choose to stick around! However, I like to write about anything and everything, including reviews, my thoughts on world events, and other things that interest me!

At some point I want to grow up and live in the real world, but for now I’m just going to continue to be a professional day-dreamer, who dreams of a life as a celebrity and being best friends with Johnny Depp… On a serious note, I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. I think I’d make a good journalist, but I don’t know what type of journalist. Also, I want to travel around the world and the one place I must, must, must go to before I die is South America (Peru, if we’re being specific). The food looks amazing, but I have to actually see it for myself. (My dad thinks I’ve gone crazy.)

I also have a YouTube Channel where I have recently started vlogging again (I tried about three years ago and gave up because A-levels got in the way) so make sure you subscribe there if you want to see more of what I get up to!

Finally, I am part of The Feministas, a group of bloggers from around the world who want to share their views on equality with others, so if you want to check that out as well, I would be very grateful!

So those are the basics about me, and I hope you enjoy my blog!

Because you can’t have an About Page without a cheeky selfie…

  1. Hey Janet! I created a hashtag: #blastfromthepast, where you publish any story, poem, article, photograph or drawing that you made when you were younger or in the significant past. You were nominated, and here is the link on instructions as well as my blast from the past. https://aditipallod.wordpress.com/2015/12/24/blast-from-the-past/ Enjoy! Your blog is pretty amazing, and I can tell from your pretty awesome “storytelling skills”, that any throwback to your writing is going to be interesting 🙂

    1. We’ve done quite a range of things… one of my modules was called Critical Reading so that included a variety of texts from Jeckyll and Hyde to Heart of Darkness, but then we also had a module where we looked at Chaucer, Donne and someone else… then I also did a module where we looked at the slave trade, and American genres, and I also did a couple of creative writing modules 🙂 so it’s been very mixed but very enjoyable!
