We’ve done it! We’ve just about made it through the first month of 2018! You can all be proud of yourselves, no matter how your January went. Didn’t get to the gym every single day? Had one glass of wine during dry January? Didn’t quite manage to go Vegan? No worries! You’ve still got another 11 months to work on it, if you so wish.
I wanted to talk about my January in particular, because I normally really enjoy January as a month, mainly because it’s my birth month. But I also really like the idea of new starts, having a fresh outlook on things, and generally having a clearer state of mind.
The month started off pretty well- I had a massive* house party for my 21st, which was amazing, and it’s still one of my highlights of this month. I invited more people than I should have, and luckily not all 40 people turned up to my small student house. About 25 people came and helped me celebrate and it was just really nice, because I’ve never celebrated my birthday with my university friends, so since this is my last year at uni, I wanted to go all out. And it was amazing.
I also got around to watching The Greatest Showman, which I haven’t actually reviewed on this blog, but I feel like everyone has seen it by now, and I think if I wrote a review on it I’d just give the whole plot away because I love it that much. It’s really good. Go and watch it if you haven’t already.
I’ve also finally got all of my marks back from last semester, and I am happy to say I PASSED EVERYTHING! I was one mark short of a 2:1 on one of my modules but that was because of a really stupid reason and I’m not sure whether it would be worth appealing it or not. But I mean, at the end of the day, it was only one mark off a 2:1 so it’s not the end of the world. And it’s also encouraged me to work even harder this semester to get a good 2:1, because that is what I’m working towards.
I had a good dissertation meeting on Friday, even though I was really ill, and my supervisor didn’t have anything bad to say on what I’ve written so far, so I’m going to have to start getting the second half of it done and all written for the end of February… I can write another 5,000 words in about four weeks, right? Let’s see…
The only real downside to this month has been that I was ill for the past week. It got kind of bad on Wednesday through Saturday, but now I’m really starting to feel a lot better, and I can tell that I am (even though I’ve still got a bit of a cough) because I’m felling really motivated as well.
I hope your January was as a good as mine, and if not- so what? We’ve got 11 months left of 2018 and that’s plenty of time to make this year your year.
